What it is
Daily Detective is a daily whodunit designed first for blind players and played entirely by voice. Every day brings one new case — detectives at your rank on your beat work the same case — and you are playing within seconds of opening the skill: no menus, no tutorials in the way. A prize pumpkin vanishes from a farm barn. A lighthouse logbook goes missing. A champion hen is swapped. The clues are sounds: a dripping tap, a rooster at the wrong hour, footsteps in fresh snow. Your ears do the detective work.
Your beat, your cases
The drawer holds 258 cases, and which ones you meet depends on the detective you become. Climb from Rookie through Observer on general cases, and at Sleuth you choose your beat — your path: the Town Beat (neighbours, shops, and small secrets), the City Beat (hotels, trains, and locked rooms), or the Wild Beat (lighthouses, zoos, and strange nights). From then on your daily cases come from your beat’s own files — twenty fresh cases at each rank — growing subtler as you climb, and at every later promotion you may stay on your beat or switch. You never repeat a case until you have exhausted your file.
How a case plays
- Investigate — choose two of three places and hear the clue at each one.
- Interview — three suspects, each speaking in their own voice. Interview up to two.
- Accuse — name the culprit. Wrong? You get a hint and one second chance. The whole room can debate it first — just say “discuss.”
- Come back tomorrow — build a streak (one grace day a month protects it), climb from Rookie to Master Detective, earn badges like Sharp Ear — and once the day’s case is closed, crack the day’s one cold case, drawn from a separate cold drawer that never touches your daily cases.
How to play
When Daily Detective launches, open it on any Alexa device by saying “Alexa, open Daily Detective.” You are straight into today’s case. The full how-to-play page lists every command.
